“The feeling that you're not quite yourself, you're on edge... why do I feel like a 12 year old about to have a tantrum"
Anxiety on Steroids 'WILD' due to a Full Moon
A full moon is the perfect time to reflect, change, set intentions... as simple as writing thoughts to be released in a journal, holding a crystal or leaving a few chosen gems on a windowsill in the moonlight. Creating a mood/vision board, writing a letter to someone close to you, thinking about who and what you’re grateful for, or disconnecting with those who you feel no longer have a place in your life.
But it's also a time where anxiety is at a high, children seem 'wild', and sleep; well what is sleep over a full moon phase? If you're like me, your brain is on high alert and you have that 'feeling'. The feeling that you're not quite yourself, you're on edge... feeling like a 12 year old about to have a tantrum, all because your partner has been playing playstation games for what feels like the last week, or your children are running up the walls 'literally' - BREATHE. He's spending every other minute with you, thoughtful as always and things between you have never been better, and were your children really so different a week ago when you managed their hyperactivity just fine? The problem is, you are tuning into the wrong platform. You are in a highly intuitive state at the moment. (you went down the doom/gloom full MOON trap. And you need to escape or have a resuscitation plan - STAT). You are forgetting about the moments to be grateful for. You hear and read so many people say "be grateful, practise gratefulness", as if it was a switch you could turn on and say "Oh great, I'm so grateful now and everything is perfect". Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. With anything it takes practise, it's training your brain to use negative triggers to switch towards positive. Think of it as lighting a candle in the dark, maybe the match doesn’t light straight away, but with a few more strokes you'll get there. The light is your 'resuscitation', and you won't find it in anyone but yourself. Let out your wild instead of letting it control you...
FULL MOON Survival KIT
1. Make a positivity jar - A list of things you love, you're grateful for and maybe a few crystals or item that feels right to you.
2. Whenever your heart begins to race, you blood feels like it's boiling - take a note from your jar... inhale a short breath in 1, 2, 3 and exhale three long breaths out 1... 2... 3...
3. Probably a good idea to tell your loved ones it's a full moon (if they know you well, they will most likely take this as a gentle warning sign) + a little extra love and consideration doesn't hurt
4. Write a list of intentions - What do you love and want to change about your life
5. Write a list of anything you feel is 'toxic' or no longer serves you (burn this list under the full moon) it no longer controls you because you chose to let it go!
And just like that, you did it, you lit the match and found your light. Of course theres no one stop shop or method that suits everyone, take what you want, leave the rest. Short and sharp or extend it with a meditation/yoga session... maybe just maybe a few ‘survival’ ideas will help you this Full Moon.
